This shift in gut bacteria improved metabolism, leading to: * Reduced blood glucose levels: by about 24%, indicating better sugar processing. * Decreased insulin levels: by 9%. * Increased fat oxidation: the breakdown of fatty acids, after high carbohydrate meals and during exercise. The researchers suggest this is due to the high concentration of anthocyanins in elderberry juice, known for their anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and antimicrobial effects. More research is needed for longer durations to confirm these findings.
